Bria Skonberg at Kuumbwa Jazz Center

Trumpeter/vocalist Bria Skonberg has been dominating the jazz headlines of late. Recently signed to Sony Music Masterworks' Okeh Records label, Skonberg was recognized by DownBeat Magazine as one of the “25 for the Future” last year, followed by the release of her eponymous LP BRIA, which won the JUNO award (Canada's Grammy Award equivalent) for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year. Although rooted in the Louis Armstrong tradition, she has not restricted herself to any one era of jazz expression. Rather, Skonberg has created a wonderful ecumenical mix of jazz and pop stylings that resonates with contemporary audiences.
