Featuring four renowned players, Bombay Jazz melds a dynamic blend of jazz with Indian classical music. The group explores the melodic richness of raga and the rhythmic interplay that is common to both Indian and jazz improvisation. 71-year old guitarist Larry Coryell, a towering presence in jazz history, serves as bandleader. After emerging with Chico Hamilton, Herbie Mann and Gary Burton, Coryell established himself as a major jazz-rock pioneer in 1969 with Spaces, featuring John McLaughlin, Chick Corea and Billy Cobham. Since then he’s worked with giants including Sonny Rollins, Paco de Lucia, Charles Mingus and Kenny Barron, as well as venturing deeply into classical music on acoustic guitar...
