After performing across the Atlantic with shows at Casa da Música (Porto) and the MIMO Festival (Amarante), the Brazilian trio Mocofaia returns home for a special concert at Casa de Francisca, a celebrated venue in the historic heart of São Paulo. The performance, scheduled for July 31st at 9:30 PM, will feature a special appearance by acclaimed singer and songwriter Ilessi, joining the group for a night of intimacy, experimentation, and deep musical dialogue.

Mocofaia — comprised of Luizinho do Jêje (percussion), Marcelo Galter (piano), and Sylvio Fraga (guitar and vocals) — released their debut album in late 2024 through the independent Brazilian label Rocinante. Born from long-standing friendship, shared research interests, and a commitment to creative freedom, their work crosses genres and traditions, blending elements of Afro-Brazilian rhythms, Brazilian popular song (canção), jazz, candomblé, and spoken word poetry.

The trio’s name, Mocofaia — a colloquial term in some regions of Brazil referring to chaos or disorder — reflects their aesthetic approach: an intentional, sensitive mix guided by collective listening and openness. Their São Paulo concert will feature tracks from their debut album, including “Amarelinho”, “Triz”, and “Madrugadouro”, alongside possible new material created for the collaboration with Ilessi.

The event highlights the growing artistic community surrounding Rocinante, which connects musicians from diverse backgrounds in a space of creative freedom and collaboration.
