The 2014 Sarasota Jazz Festival closes in grand style with a performance by two giants of jazz. Dick Hyman is a composer, arranger and musical director for television, theater and movies and has written the scores for many Woody Allen movies and the John Patrick Shanley movie Moonstruck. This great artist teams up with clarinetist and saxophonist extraordinaire, Ken Peplowski, whose playing has been hailed as "magic" by none other than the late Mel Tormé. Peplowski will be presented with this year's Satchmo award for his outstanding contributions to jazz at this concert, following in the footsteps of 26 other Satchmo winners—all of them musicians except for Jerry Roucher and jazz promoter George Wein.
