The 34th annual Sarasota Jazz Festival takes a cinematic twist with this special screening of ‘Round Midnight,’ Bertrand Tavernier's wistful and tragic portrait of the Paris jazz scene of the 1950s. Herbie Hancock won an Oscar for his original score and the film, recognized as one of the best in the world of jazz, garnered 13 awards and eight additional nominations internationally. Pianist and vocalist Michael Royal, who has collaborated with such greats as Ira Sullivan, Mark Murphy and the Count Basie Orchestra, will provide commentary. Tickets are $5.
