Seattle and Brooklyn-based JESSICA LURIE emerged out of the Seattle 1990’s explosion of jazz, rock and improvisational music. An award-winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, and improviser, Lurie performs on saxophones, flute, electronics and voice, exploring a wide range of musical influences from around the globe as a composer and performer, including folk, funk, rhythmic Eastern European folk music and improvisation-heavy jazz with a dose of free-wheeling avant-groove-meets-grind. She is also known around town for her recurring collaborations in Seattle’s jazz, experimental and jam scene, as well as being a founding member of the Tiptons Saxophone Quartet and the Living Daylights trio....

Lurie will be joined by a top level band, including her long-time collaborator and recording co-producer Todd Sickafoose on acoustic bass (Ani DiFranco, Tiny Resistors); NYC and Los Angeles- based Swiss drummer Mathias Kunzli (Regina Spektor); local funk, jazz and experimental jam guitarist Andy Coe; and lyrical and dynamic She will be performing a diverse set, featuring new compositions and works from her new CD release “Long Haul,” coming out on Chant Records out of NYC mid-December and in January on Lurie’s own label Zipa music.
As a leader, side-person, composer and collaborator, Jessica is featured on over 60 recordings, and has received critical acclaim from Downbeat, eMusic, Jazz Times, All About Jazz and many other significant publications. Collaborations with international artists include: Fred Frith, Taylor Mac, Billy Martin, Skerik, John Zorn, Cyro Baptista, OU, Todd Sickafoose, David Krakauer, Bill Frisell, Jenny Scheinman, Chris Cochrane, Henry Butler, Matt Dario, Robert Dick, Jamie Baum, Joe Doria’s McTuff, The Indigo Girls, Mark Ribot, Henry Butler, Eyvind Kang, Karl Denson, Frank London, Allison Miller, Vinicio Caposella, Nels Cline, Amy Denio, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Kenny Wolleson, Sleater Kinney, Bernie Worrell and Ivan Neville among others. She composes for multi-media, dance, theater and film, and has collaborated on over 30 multi-media works with visual artist Danijel Zezelj, theater companies Great Small Works and Circus Amok.
