Master Brazilian pianist and composer Jovino Santos Neto returns to SJF with his fabulous quinteto in tow, blending new originals, the music of Hermeto Pascoal and jazz into a unique and joyous blend that has made the band a sure thing on the Seattle scene since Jovino's arrival in the 1990's. Long time mates in vibraphonist Ben Thomas, drummer Mark Ivester and intrepid percussionist Jeff Busch will all be there with regular bassist Tim Carey on the bandstand Saturday, and special guest bassist Kelsey Mines joining on Friday.
