Piansit Marina Albero is back, bringing her sublime fusion in trio mode with eclectic bassist Geoff Harper and multi-dimensional drummer Chris Icasiano. Albero’s explorations as a trio pianist backs up her reputation as a nomad of sound, with ringing elements of jazz, Cuban, flamenco and classical figures that factor into her extraordinary talent for improvisation. She is a pioneer of the psalterium (hammered dulcimer) as well, with an approach that takes that instrument into previously unknown territory. She can rock it on keytar as well, something that adds to the fun–and that really is the main point, isn’t it?
