Bassist Michael Glynn in a literal sense, may be the most visible jazz artist in Seattle. The first call player is on everyone’s list, and his dance card is generally full. His performance resume includes a long list of touring notables along with the best of the northwest. Yet as visible as he is, it is a rare sighting to find Glynn on the gig as a leader. He has occasionally in the past been called on to perform some of his original compositions on live dates, but this evening enables the bassist to put his tunes front and center, in addition to skillful arrangements of jazz standards and the compositions of his bandmates....

His performance resume includes a long list of touring notables along with the best of the northwest. Yet as visible as he is, it is a rare sighting to find Glynn on the gig as a leader. Glynn has performed in trio mode with brilliant pianist Matt Williams and drummer / composer Xavier Lecouturier, so it makes sense that they would accompany him on this rare date that finds the ace bassist as the frontman. Alto saxophone master Mark Taylor completes the top shelf quartet, a historic, nationally acclaimed Seattle musician with a probing melodic presence and innovative approach.
