A first for Sequim City Band! Due to high demand, SCB is adding a second performance for this concert cycle! RSVP for the free open dress rehearsal for “Emerald Green & Navy Blue” at 11:30am on March 17th in the Donna M. Morris Theatre at Field Arts & Events Hall in Port Angeles. This event will featuring the same musicians and music as the 3pm concert, but will be a working rehearsal and there may be a few brief moments to work on the music. Sequim City Band and Navy Band Northwest present an "Emerald Green & Navy Blue" concert in honor of St. Patrick's Day!Sequim City Band starts the lively music program with a medley of Irish tunes. Other highlights include a Navy Band Northwest trombone soloist playing a well-known piece composed by trombone virtuoso Arthur Pryor, a marimba duet by SCB percussionists, and a well-known John Philip Sousa march. This latter piece is a nod to the first performing arts theater (opened November 1922) in Port Angeles. The march is in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Sousa Band's 1923-1924 North American tour when the band performed matinee and evening concerts at Port Angeles' Mack Theatre (a 1922 local landmark that is no longer standing).After a brief intermission, Navy Band Northwest takes the stage with some lively Irish tunes including several that were preserved in the concert band literature by the composer Percy Grainger.
