Matassa’s partner in music and life is bassist Clipper Anderson, a steadying influence for the better part of her career. He is a groovemaster bassist with a penchant for nimble, quicksilver solos and a skilled composer and arranger. If you really want to get into it, the cat can sing as well. Pianist David Joiner has settled in as the band’s pianist after Darin Clendenin, Matassa’s long-time accompanist left for Portland. Mark Ivester is a master of tying things together neatly behind the kit. The two day residency should display a broad range of Matassa’s favorites and new adventures.
