Hal has developed a most modern and sophisticated sound on the pedal steel guitar, taking the instrument into the progressive jazz realm with original compositions and songs from the jazz greats.

David Deacon-Joyner is the recently retired Professor of Music and Director of Jazz Studies at Pacific Lutheran University. From 1986 to 2000, he was professor on the faculty of the renowned jazz studies division at the University of North Texas. David is a busy freelance pianist, vocalist, composer, and arranger. He has performed throughout the United States and Canada, and his compositions and arrangements have been recorded and performed by renowned artists and orchestras all over the country.
