About the Bands:
Saxophonist Craig Buhler has been a member of the Olympic Peninsula arts community for over two decades. Craig is active as a composer, recording artist, jazz saxophonist, vocalist, producer, educator, and advocate. He is a member of the California rock group Honk, which toured alongside The Beach Boys, Loggins & Messina, and other top artists. He continues to enthrall Orange County audiences to this day. Craig’s nine CDs and two books circulate worldwide, and his improvisation workshop is attended by many fine local musicians.
Jean Lenke, also from Sequim and fairly new to the Olympic Peninsula, has been hitting it hard on the local and regional jazz scene ever since she arrived in 2019. Whether performing with an intimate acoustic Trio, with her all women Rose Quintet, or with her Jean Therapy West Band, Jean’s fresh approach to classic jazz is influenced by an eclectic mix of mid-century folk, jazz-rock fusion, blues and heartfelt passion for life. Jean will be bringing her full 7-piece Summer Jazz Band to the Purple Haze event, featuring Seattle saxophonist Tobi Stone.
With authenticity and keen musicality, Malo Castro, manager and “Papa” of WEPA!, magically combines elements of classic Jazz, Latin, Brazilian and Rock, adding the latin clave and spice to music ensembles throughout the Northwest! WEPA Is well know for their danceable grooves ~ Salsa/Son/Latin ~ New York Style! Voted twice as "Best Percussionist" at the Kitsap County Music Awards, Malo has created several groups in the area, including Trombanga and Clave con Jazz, and has worked with the prestigious Johnny Conga.
A $10 admission will be collected at the gate (14 and under FREE). The farm store will be open, U-Cut Lavender is still happening, and Lavender Ice Cream & Lavender Julias will be available. The Kelbi’s World Fairy Experience will also be on site for children’s exploration.
