Skipp Pearson at South Carolina State House

On a balmy Summer Sunday morning in 1958 a young art director who knew very little about photography manage to assemble some of the greater jazz musicians living and working in New York City to take a photograph that would become emblematic of the golden age of jazz.

It is in the spirit of the late great Art Kane the Skipp Pearson Jazz Foundation honors all of those responsible for that collaboration that we call on all jazz musicians in jazz town to take our own Great Day in South Carolina images.

Live Jazz Jam Session with the Reggie Sullivan Band and Skipp Pearson is scheduled after the photo session at the Sheraton Hotel Downtown Columbia from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
