First-time-ever, inaugural event celebrating/commemorating shared and individual CT River heritage between South Hadley and Holyoke. Has MassDOT's full support (along with town/municipal/state legislative support). Activities include music groups, street busker entertainment, bike-decorating and chalk drawing stations, MassDOT cycle track, putting green, soccer foot skills course, Tai Chi, Chair Yoga, dance groups, jump roping, hopscotch (lots of “old fashioned” activities to encourage healthy exercise by pedestrians on the bridge)

Parade at 1 pm, starting at both ends of the bridge to meet in the middle to honor all Veterans, particularly Vietnam Veterans (bridge named in honor of them), planned short ceremony after meeting in middle. Honor Guards, School marching bands and other music and civic groups involved in parade (being coordinated by SH & Holyoke VFW Posts). We want to thank the public, Veterans, steering committee members, officials, sponsors who donated generously to make this all happen, etc. There will also be “community service groups” with their tables of info in the approach areas leading to the bridge. Essentially, attendees on the bridge will “mix, mingle, munch and move” for 4 very fun hours.
