In celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month, the Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association presents world renowned pianist, Shelly Berg at The Palladium Theater’s Side Door. The All Music Guide says, "Shelly Berg is one of the finest pianists around in the early 21st century playing modern mainstream jazz." A Steinway piano artist, Shelly Berg is the Dean of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami and a past president of the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE). He has appeared as a performer and lecturer throughout the United States as well as in Canada, China, Mexico, Europe, Israel, Japan, Romania and Venezuela.

The Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association provides jazz opportunities for enthusiasts throughout the Tampa Bay area. The primary focus of the association is to encourage and promote the understanding & appreciation of jazz, its origins & evolution and presenting live performances in the Tampa Bay area. The association is also very active in education and provides scholarships to students who plan to further their jazz studies.
