Ross Strauser Jazz Collective at The Studio@620

The Ross Strauser Jazz Collective is composed of members of The Ross Strauser Jazz Orchestra, a new group in Tampa Bay that’s celebrating its debut album release, Endless Ties. This version of the group features staples of the Tampa Bay jazz community including James Suggs, Aaron West, James Wall, LaRue Nickelson, Simon Lasky, Noel Reyes, and Rod Alnord. The band will be performing the original compositions and arrangements of Ross Strauser, several of which can be heard on the new release.

oss is a saxophonist, teacher and composer/arranger from Whitefish, Montana. He is a graduate of University of Montana and University of South Florida in Tampa where he currently resides and teaches in the music departments at USF and Hillsborough Community College. He has studied and performed with artists such as Johan Eriksson, Rob Tapper, Erica von Kleist, Loren Stillman, James Suggs, Remy Le Boeuf, Jack Wilkins and Chuck Owen. Ross has played and recorded with many groups around the states of Montana and Florida including The Latin Jazz Knights, George Pennington and the Odyssey, The Rod Alnord Quartet, The Ross Strauser Trio, Tonal Imagination Jazz Collective, and The Fertile Crescent. He has also written and arranged music for variety of jazz ensembles including his newest group, The Ross Strauser Jazz Orchestra. In May of 2022, he presented an original composition at the International Society of Jazz Arrangers and Composers Symposium in Austin, Texas. He was also the winner of the 2023 David P. and Susan W. Wohlheuter Jazz Composition Contest at Ithaca College.
