Opened in 1991 Birdland is the best jazz record store “down under”. Birdland stock jazz cds and dvds (some vinyl) as well as blues , soul, funk, Brazilian, reggae, African. Imports from US, Europe, Japan as well as just about every Australian jazz release. Labels stocked include Blue Note, ECM, Venus, Black Saint, OmniTone, Winter & Winter, Tzadik, Power, Prestige, Riverside, Verve and many more from o/s. Local labels include La Brava, JazzHead, Origin, Rufus, Vitamin, JazzGroove, NewMarket, ABC, Basement Digs, Creavtive Vibes and most if not all Australian independent jazz releases.
Directions: Birdland is near the corner of Pitt and Market Streets, in the center of Sydney. Look for the Monorail Station nearest this corner. Birdland Records is inside that building. Just down the street from the Hilton Hotel.
