About

“The feeling of inspired freedom in between a great melodic framework.” - Vårt Land (NO)

"This trio is really speaking with its own voice and they left me with huge hunger for more." - G point audio (UK)

The Kjetil Mulelid Trio released their debut album “Not Nearly Enough To Buy A House" in late 2017 on Norway's prestigious Rune Grammofon label, with its reputation for hand-picking some of the best experimental electronic, jazz and improvised music from Scandinavia. They have since their first release marked themselves as some of Norway's foremost jazz musicians with an active concert agenda in much of Europe, and with their highly acclaimed sequel album "What You Thought Was Home" which was released August 30 on the same record label. The album has been very prominent on streaming services and has also been praised by media from around the world. The three members are without a doubt of the most interesting from Norway's jazz musicians, with Norwegian Grammy Award winner Bjørn Marius Hegge on double bass, Grammy nominees Andreas Winther on drums, and pianist Kjetil Mulelid, known from other projects such as Wako and Kjemilie. Together they are forming a classic acoustic piano trio focusing on Mulelid’s beguiling compositions expertly balancing energetic, rhythmically complex and harmonically rich music with beautiful evocative melodies. While the trio incorporates that sense of calm, unhurried yet constantly unfolding sound world which is distinctively Scandinavian, Mulelid, in concert with bassist Bjørn Marius Hegge and drummer Andreas Winther, effortlessly conjure additional layers, tones, and textures, based upon group improvisations, and informed, in large part, by each others diverse musical experiences....
