Cloe Wilder Ticket price: 15/20Door Time: 7pm All AgesSpotify / Apple Music / YouTubeCloe Wilder is every girl’s favorite new artist. Miraculously the 17-year-old emerged into teenagehood with a distinctive and romanticized vision, complete with earthy melodies, a breathy vocal tone and nostalgic storytelling. Comparable to a Floridian young Taylor Swift, Cloe’s witty but intimate lyrics depict the type of dream-like recollections of place, home and internal feelings you want to live inside forever. The bare bones of the folk pop-leaning songs like “House By The Water” and “We’re Not Special” have been influenced by Bon Iver but Cloe’s overall world is holistically inspired by one of her favorite artists, Lana Del Rey. Broadly speaking, her music is sentimental for a childhood that was so warm and loving, not because things are troubling now but merely as a testament to how beautiful that first era of her life was. “My music is looking backwards but never like there’s a piece of me missing or I feel empty. It just feels like you want to connect with it again. That’s how I like to write about these memories,” she explains from her completely pink bedroom in Clearwater, FL. While most children were balancing after school clubs and sleepovers, the spirited and charismatic Cloe was being classically trained in piano from the age of four, attending recitals and eventually being homeschooled so she could focus on her music, a job and lifestyle she launched the moment she became a teenager. “I started my career officially when I was 13, which horrifies me—it’s such an awkward time to be a person and an artist and putting things out there and having your name attached to it,” Cloe says. “I was like ‘I wanna be a musician so I’m gonna start now!’ But if it wasn’t for that timeline I wouldn’t be as comfortable as I am now so I’m super grateful for it.” For fans of bedroom pop and Phoebe Bridgers, Cloe’s music is emotional, evocative and wistful. Her debut EP Teenage Lullabies (2021) was written and released when she was only 14. The unforgettable seven tracks of emo-pop laid a bold foundation for Cloe’s discography. Its shimmering fan favorite “I Wanna Be Alone With You”, co-written and produced by Sam Nicolosi, Cloe’s friend and longtime collaborator, has already amassed half a million views on YouTube. I Spent My Summer On The Road (2024) is an EP that serves as a “coming-of-age introduction”, a time-capsule of her experience being aged 17, a year that feels to her “somehow more profound than all the others.” It features the gentle acoustic track “Super 8”, about being on the road and feeling like she wasn’t keeping up her end of the bargain with friendships back in Florida; “I wrote it about feeling guilty chasing this dream that took me away from people,” she says. When she was based in Los Angeles for an endless summer, she missed Clearwater so wrote a longing tribute to it on “Homesick”. “I missed all these little things—my car in the rain, going to this ice cream shop on the side of the road, the beach—things that I didn’t think affected me, to the point it really freaked me out,” she remembers. A sassier side is displayed on the catchy pop track “Fake ID”, in which she plays with the idea of being well behaved and pushing boundaries. “Even though I never have acts of rebellion, I realized I needed to be a part of these fun things. I wasn’t so afraid of breaking a rule anymore,” she laughs. On every song, there’s an emotional clarity and maturity beyond her years that distils into a picture-perfect vision of what it means to be alive and growing up at that stage. “When I’m writing there’s no barrier between me and the music,” Cloe says of her process. “Artistically, I’m just always trying to stay that close to myself.”This level of vulnerability has drawn a growing fanbase of teenage girls to her like she’s a lightning rod for those seeking a confidant. Cloe’s songs are for anyone who experiences things deeply and is trying to understand their place in the world. “There’s just something special about being this age and finding an artist you’re really excited about, who you feel like is speaking directly to you,” she says. “When my fans have met me at shows, that’s what they seem to feel about me and I just want to meet more of them.”Terms And Conditions:Important notice re COVID-19: Please note any interaction with the general public poses an elevated risk of being exposed to COVID-19 and we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed while in attendance at the event.
