"Ballads are like wordless love songs, where the important thing is not the= number of notes, but their weight. They are encounters of extremes, a dialogue between storm and calm, in which the performing band plays a central role. Palkittu jazzpianisti ja säveltäjä Iro Haarla esittää G Livelab Tampereen konsertissa uusimpia balladejaan jazzkvintettinsä kanssa.
"Balladit ovat kuin sanattomia rakkauslauluja, joissa tärkeää ei ole nuottien paljous, vaan niiden painavuus. Ne ovat äärimmäisyyksien kohtaamisia, myrskyn ja seesteen vuoropuhelua, joissa esittävällä yhtyeellä on keskeinen merkitys. Siksi olenkin valinnut kvintettiini soittajat, joiden kanssa olen vuosikaudet tehnyt yhteistyötä. Nämä soittajat saavat syvillä tulkinnoillaan ja yhteissoinnillaan sävellykseni elämään ja tuovat niihin riipaisevaa ilmaisuvoimaa kauneuden ohella. Luvassa on pysäyttävää ajattomuuden tunnetta ja rauhaa,” Haarla kuvailee konserttia.
