Snap on 2&4 w/ Don Aliquo & Lori Mechem
Friday, December 7
8:00pm
The Jazz Cave
Nashville Jazz Workshop, 1319 Adams Street
The last Snap on 2&4 of the year will be on Friday, December 7 - and will feature saxophonist Don Aliquo and pianist Lori Mechem. The Mechem/Aliquo pairing is an NJW tradition for ending the year, and it is always incredible!
Don Aliquo hails from Pittsburgh, where he grew up listening to and learning from the city's jazz legends. Following in the footsteps of his father, a well-respected jazz artist himself, Don spent his formative years performing with many of the regions greats. Fortunately for us, he eventually landed in Tennessee where he is a professor in MTSU's Jazz Studies program, and has a busy schedule teaching, performing, and recording. His latest CD, entitled Sun and Shield, features veteran jazz masters Rufus Reid (bass), Jim McNeely (piano), and the dynamic drummer Obed Calvaire. At home in virtually all jazz styles, Don's technical brilliance is matched only by his taste and melodic sense. More at www.donaliquo.com....

Lori Mechem is, of course, one of the founders, and Executive Director, of the Nashville Jazz Workshop. Besides mentoring hundreds of students and running one of the most unique and successful jazz programs in the country, she is also a gifted player and composer. With six CD's to her credit as a leader, her influences range from Count Basie to Gene Harris to Antonio Carlos Jobim. More about Lori's music at www.lorimechem.com.
What you get from pairing two such talents is an evening of jazz that promises to be exciting, unpredictable, and most of all swinging. Joining Don and Lori will be Roger Spencer on bass and Chris Brown on drums.
