The West Texas Jazz Party is not a household name in Texas – but it should be on your calendar for May 2016. The party is May 20-22, 2016 at the MCM Eleganté Hotel in Odessa. When the longest running jazz party in the United States began in 1967 in Odessa, tickets were as scarce as hen's teeth. Still, the first group of musicians was a “Who’s Who” of jazz and played for 124 diehard fans. After 49 consecutive years - featuring more than 150 visiting musicians - the West Texas Jazz Society hasn’t missed a beat. This one-of-a-kind party spreads music and a great musical "hang" over three full days. It remains among the best jazz parties of its kind for its comfortable atmosphere, informal setting, and for providing an event where musicians love to play. Fans enjoy four-hours of non-stop swing and traditional jazz at three evening concerts and a Saturday brunch and concert. Patron tickets are $225 each and include reserved seating for all performances and the Saturday brunch. General admission for each performance (including the Jazz Brunch) is $50. Teachers with a valid ID are welcome to attend any performance at half price (first come, first served – limited to space available). Students are always $5 per performance for students with valid student ID.
