About

60 years ago Massey Hall was host to what has been forever heralded as The Greatest Jazz Concert Ever – for one glorious night Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Bud Powell and Charles Mingus left an indelible mark on the history of jazz in Toronto. It was the only time these five jazz giants recorded as a unit the last recorded meeting of Parker and Gillespie. The audience was small – the cheques bounced – but the music was legend.
