Sat-July-15: MILES DAVIS' "Panthalassa" -- the National Jazz Award winning BROWNMAN ELECTRYC TRIO will re-create and re-interpret that iconic Davis recording, while acclaimed visual artist Stephanie Schirm paints live! For those unfamiliar with the Panthalassa recording -- 20 years after the end of the jazz-fusion era, producer and Miles alumni Bill Laswell was approached by Columbia records to do a single recording that encapsulated Miles 1969-1974 electric period. Laswell was offered free reign access to the original multi-track tapes and was told he could do whatever he wanted as a re-mix. He occasionally deleted the rhythm sections, brought up obscured instruments, added Indian and electronic droning sounds, constructed moody transitions, premiered previously unreleased passages from Davis' sessions and re-balanced much of the original recordings. The resulting record is a singular stunning overview of Miles' entire '69-'74 period....
