SELENA EVANGELINE is, without question, a world class singer. The sounds of Ella Fitzgerald, Chaka Khan, Prince and Stevie Wonder helped shape the musician she is today. As a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, her songs are musical snapshots of real life and emotions, from a real woman. Those âsnapshotsâ helped to win her an Ontario Independent Music Award for Best Urban, Barrie New Music Award as well as honorable mention in the John Lennon Song Writing Competition. Her debut album âThis Girlâs Lifeâ was featured on CTVâs âDa Kink In My Hairâ and her single âLifesongâreceived heavy rotation on Canadian airwaves as well as MuchVibe and MTV1. Selenaâs second release, âBad Weatherâ, is a blend of R&B/Soul, Jazz, Pop, Funk and even a little classic sounding rock â a sound that she likes to call âAlternative R&Bâ. Like the woman, the album is sophisticated yet fun, beautifully intricate and at the same time uncomplicated. âThis album is an extension of myself and my influences. So much went into the creation of this project and I want listeners to hear that â the joy, the pain and everything in between. Itâs not just about a pretty voice. I want to take them on a tour of my world as I see itâŚ.for better or worseâ.
GAVIN HOPEâs career spans the stage, film, television and song. At 20, he joined Canadian pop a cappella sensation The Nylons, performing on four albums and touring with the group across Canada, Europe, Asia and South America. Gavinâs lead vocal on the hit single âLove TKOâ helped earn the group a Juno nomination for Best R&B Recording. Post Nylons, Gavin ventured back into professional theatre playing âCollins,â the lead character in the Canadian company of RENT at Torontoâs Royal Alexandra Theatre, and later as âSimbaâ in the original Canadian company of The Lion King. Other selected theatre credits include The Tempest, As You Like It and Smokey Joeâs CafĂŠ. Gavin recorded his debut solo album âAnything Like Mineâ in the late 90âs and scored multiple charted singles, as well as a second Juno nomination for Best R&B Recording. He has shared the stage with Shania Twain, Deborah Cox, Jill Scott, Nathalie Cole, James Brown and Aretha Franklin. His new solo album âFor All We Knowâ is a vocal jazz influenced release produced by and featuring, Bill King on piano.
