For most West Indians, the name La Petite Musicale is synonymous with the immortal Olive Walke and the legendary folk-choir that she founded in Port of Spain more than a half century ago. La Petite Musicale of Toronto was established by a core group of members from the parent company in Trinidad and Tobago. The group?s repertoire includes traditional Spanish and French folk songs, gospel, classical renditions, calypso and parang personifying the spirit and richness of the diverse cultures of their wonderful country Trinidad and Tobago and also the Caribbean.
Opening the performance at 7:30 pm in the 400 seat Ada Slaight Hall will be the Eddie Bullen Trio. From his first album, ‘Nocturnal Affair’ to his most recent ‘Havana Nights’, Eddie Bullen gives his audience a taste of contemporary jazz, flavoured with Caribbean and Latin rhythms. “Eddie Bullen keeps audiences in Canada and throughout the Caribbean on their feet and begging for more with his distinctive style. Each year the Muhtadi International Drumming Festival, the largest percussion-based event of its kind in Canada, presents over 40 live performances, free of charge. The 15th Annual festival will be held June 7th and 8th, 2014 in Woobine Park, Toronto, Ontario Canada.
