Jazz Brunch with Claire Lee at Jazz Bistro

Claire Yunjin Lee has one more year to go to achieve her Bachelor’s Degree of Music at Humber College. The Korean-Canadian pianist, composer, accompanist and educator is growing her reputation among young musicians in the jazz scene of Toronto.

Born in Seoul, Korea, Claire moved to Canada when she was 13. Although her precious formal classical training did not continue for long, she was introduced to music again when she was graduated from high school. She achieved certification of Introduction to Jazz Performance program at Humber College, prior to the Bachelor’s program. Over the years at Humber, she studied with world-renowned Canadian musicians such as Brian Dickinson, Bernie Senensky, Nancy Walker, Kirk MacDonald, Mike Downes, and New York’s David Virelles. As evidenced in her compositions and playing, Claire’s highly inspired by Bud Powell and Andrew Hill. Striving towards virtuosity on her piano, Claire seeks to carry both traditional and modern sound of jazz in her future works....
