After performing to a packed house in early July, Michel Bérubé returns to the Jazz Bistro stage on Tuesday, September 24 at 8:30 PM. Accompanied by his Musical Director Mark Lalama on piano, Michel will present an evening of intimate, passionate and reflective songs in both French and English by some of the most celebrated composers of our time including Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, Randy Newman, Michel Legrand, Leonard Cohen and Jimmy Webb.

Michel has the distinction of having recorded duets with two musical icons, Chrissie Hynde and Jennifer Warnes. He has received rave reviews for his recent album of French classic songs and standing ovations for his interpretation of jazz standards. He has lived in Toronto since 1999 studying, recording and performing everywhere from Jazz Festivals in Toronto, Barrie and Peterborough to The Top o’ The Senator to Casino Rama, making his USA debut at the prestigious Town Hall in New York City. He has shared the bill with the likes of Jennifer Warnes, The Faith Chorale, Jackie Richardson, Amy Sky, Steven Paige, Kenny Rogers, Chantal Kreviazuk, Louise Pitre and Amanda McBroom to name but a few. Mark is an in-demand pianist, arranger and producer who hails from Welland. He was the pianist/arranger on Canadian Idol and has performed across North America, working with countless artists including John Bon Jovi, Mariah Carey, Tony Bennett, Nelly Furtado, Bryan Adams, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Olivia Newton-John, Michael Macdonald, Paul Anka and Anne Murray among many others.

Since joining forces in 2006, Michel and Mark have not only performed together frequently, they have collaborated on writing and recording a chart topping original Christmas song “Mama’s Words” (2009) and a much praised album of French classics HYMNES À L’AMOUR (2012) that includes Michel’s duet with Chrissie Hynde that was a hit in Quebec this past year. Their spring 2012 tour to promote HYMNES À L’AMOUR was greeted with standing ovations everywhere.
