Review
When you have a good thing going, why tamper with it? Expand it, yes. But don't play with the formula. That's the reasoning behind West Oak Lane's Ogontz Grill & Sidewalk Cafe, which is modeled after the successful Chestnut Grill & Sidewalk Cafe and owned by the same folks. The concept is simple enough: an eclectic, mostly American menu served in an airy, casual atmosphere with attractive sidewalk seating. The West Oak Lane locale is bright and happy, with well-positioned touches of eye-opening color that break up the otherwise subdued decor, and an efficient, pleasant wait staff. The unfussy feel makes it a good choice for families as well as for casual meals. It's not a hot-and-heavy date place, but there are plenty of those to go around. The menu offers bistro-like fare, such as fresh, light takes on seafood and pastas, but the main draws are big, vibrant salads and juicy burgers. The outdoor cafe seating makes the Ogontz Grill an ideal place for people watching. - Margaret Battistelli
