With his trademark satirical snap, Kinky Friedman takes the Jazz Depot stage to celebrate his first disc of original music in four decades. Friedman will release “Circle of Life” on his own Echo Hill Records on July 3rd. Most widely known as a social satirist, Kinky Friedman is sharing his experiences as a singer, songwriter, novelist, humorist, and even politician in support of our own Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame.

Produced by Friedman himself alongside Brian Molnar, the first single, “Autographs in the Rain (Song to Willie)” is out now. Molnar will also open for many of Friedman’s tour dates. The new disc started with a call from Willie Nelson, who asked Friedman what he was doing at that moment. Friedman replied that he was watching Matlock, the old TV chestnut, to which Nelson replied, “That is a sure sign of depression, Kinky. Turn Matlock off and start writing.”...
