Following from his fourth album, Meeting Ground (2007) which featured Gnawa master musician Boujemma Boubul and for which he received nominations for Best Band and Best Album in the 2007 BBC Jazz Awards and Best Jazz Act in the 2007 MOBO Awards, Jazz trumpeter and writer Byron Wallen plays tracks from his new album ‘Portrait’ which was released last year. The album features Byron’s All-Star band Four Corners made up by Rob Luft (guitar), Paul Michael (bass) and Rod Youngs (drums) which had been shortlisted for the Jazz Ensemble of the Year for the Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2020.
