Jazz is more than just an old man’s music, more than just a virtuosic, pretentious and overly-technical exercise, more than just head-balm for yuppies in trendy bars. It is a vital, living art form, under immense cultural pressure, in the face of which it can often barely survive: yet it always manages to emerge, bruised perhaps, but intact, and ‘eartrip’ documents this survival and continued growth.
