Above all, you can expect a considered and thoughtful exploration of what is an incredibly varied and exciting field. Jazz is more than just an old man’s music, more than just a virtuosic, pretentious and overly-technical exercise, more than just head-balm for yuppies in trendy bars. It is a vital, living art form, under immense cultural pressure, in the face of which it can often barely survive: yet it always manages to emerge, bruised perhaps, but intact, and ‘eartrip’ documents this survival and continued growth. The magazine has no commercial affiliations, and no desire to conceded to passing fads or in-the-moment-hype – although its contributors may have an axe or two to grind…What it can guarantee is to make you think, to make you discover and explore, and to take you on a fantastic voyage, a “journey for your ears”…
