The Robin Jessome Quintet is an exciting new group presenting their debut recording. The quintet focuses on performing creative original music and features some of Toronto’s finest young musicians. This album represents their fresh approach to contemporary jazz and improvisation.
Drawing on influences such as Carla Bley, Ornette Coleman, Charles Mingus, Dave Douglas and Thelonious Monk, the Robin Jessome Quintet offers a unique juxtaposition of spontaneity and composition. Their blend of intense interaction with clever compositions, moody textures and a good sense of humour make this band one of the unique new voices in contemporary Canadian jazz.
