Montreal jazz pianist/composer Lorraine Desmarais has received the Yamaha Prize at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, a Félix at the Adisq for her album Trio Lorraine Desmarais, and first prize at the Great Jazz Piano American Competition at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival. She also received the SOCAN Composers' Award for her album Vision in 2001, the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal’s Oscar Peterson Award (2002), and the Order of Canada (2012).
