ABOUT THE BAND:
JEROME DEGEY is a French guitarist, bassist, composer, arranger & music producer that works in an eclectic musical environment (jazz, pop, rock, etc.) A few of his arranging and producing accomplishments include the musical score for the film “from Subway with Love," orchestral arrangements for Martin Solveig’s album "Hedonist" and a brazilian album with philarmonic orchestra “Loysa Lenn." Jerome has performed with many notable musicians throughout the world including: Ishtar Alabina (world music), Mick Hucknall from Simply Red (pop), Les Etoiles (duo from Brazil) Iva Fruhlingova (Platinium Artist from Tcheque Republic) and Elissa (Lebanon Artist). Jerome tours and performs extensively with Grace and the Victory Riders. The band includes his wife Grace (daughter of the well-known singer and songwriter, Jonathan Edwards) Together they have attracted large audiences, including a packed Bataclan, in Paris.
Saxophonist RANDY MALCOLM received a full music scholarship at U of Miami. During his long career, Randy played lead alto sax with Della Reese and Bobby Rydell. He also played lead tenor for Ray McKinley (original Glenn Miller Orch) Lee Castle (Dorsey Band) Temptations & 4 Tops. He recorded with Jimmy Haskell (arranger, music director for TV Shows @ CBS) and toured with the Monkees, Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart, Tommy James & The Platters. After relocating to California, Randy became Associate Prof at College of Alameda in Oakland. He performed with Jerome Richardson in concert opposite the Duke Ellington Orch. He also performed with Gladys Knight (Bari sax) at the Oakland Colliseum Jazz Festival, Chuck Mangione at El Matador, (SanFran), Sonny Stitt @ Mandrakes (Berklee, Ca) Bobby Shew, Kenny Burrell, Gus Mancuso (Sinatra pianist) in Las Vegas. Randy produced the Jazz Dinner Theatre in Hartford, CT. featuring Ed Jones (Basie Bassist) and several other well known artists, including Kenny Burrell & Pepper Adams. Randy arranged and performed music for the Princess, Holland America and other major cruise ships. Back in LA from 2000 till 2013, Randy worked in the TV show circuit, performed music for Richard Simmons Videos @ CBS. In addition to playing the saxophone, Randy has also performed as a pianist/vocalist at several California Casinos and Night Clubs. In 2012, Randy moved back to South Florida and resumed his music career.
Bassist PHIL McARTHUR has performed and recorded with hundreds of artists across the globe for the past 30 years including Ricky Martin, Franco DeVita, Alejandra Gussman, Juan Luis Guerra, Joss Stone, Alejandro Sanz, La Mari of Chambao, David Lee Roth, Nil Lara, Edgar Winter, Nestor Torres, Marc Anthony, Lauren Hill, P-Diddy, Gilberto Santa Rosa, David Lee Roth, Clarence Clemmons, Dave Valentin, Nestor Torres, Giovanni Hidalgo, Rod Stewart, KC & The Sunshine Band, Othello Molineaux, Dr Lonnie Smith, Christine Ebersole and many others. In addition to being a touring bassist for many years, McArthur is also proficient at the violin and spent quite a few years with some top notch orchestras and studio string sections. He has also produced a vast catalog of music for television and film.
Born in the small province of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, RAUL VALDEZ graduated in 1995 as Instrumentalist and Percussion Professor from the National School of Music in La Habana, Cuba. He spent the next few years teaching drum set and percussion at the school while performing regularly at important jazz clubs and International music events in Cuba. Valdes played drum set regularly in Cuba with the band Grupo Perspectiva (former band of famous trumpeter, Arturo Sandoval,) as well as with members of the Grammy-winning jazz band, Irakere(Chucho Valdes' band.) In addition, Raul played drums and recorded with Grammy-nominated pianist, Andres Alen. His unique style and talent earned Valdes a scholarship to study jazz in 1999 at the University of North Texas in Denton under the instruction of legendary jazz drummer/professor, Ed Soph. After moving to the United States, Raul toured with Denton rock band Riddle Me This for one year and then played percussion in the very popular Latin band, Havana NRG!until 2003. He has instructed several drum workshops and clinics at music stores and universities throughout the United States and performed with various local groups/musicians including George Anderson, soul/R&B singer Kenya, jazz/funk guitarist Domino Winding, and many more. In his young career to date, Raul Valdes has already made a significant impression in the music industry, having performed with world-renowned musicians such as José José and Nachito Herrera at various musical events including the esteemed Austin City Limits Festival. He has also recorded for several local artists, as well as on Myron Butlerand Levi's critically acclaimed gospel album, Set Me Free. Most recently, Raul has been touring extensively with legendary blues musician, Lucky Peterson, playing on some of the biggest and most celebrated stages across the world, including the Montreal Jazz Festival, the San Javier Jazz Festival in Spain, Terra Blues, Iridium, Falcons, and many others in New York, Chicago, Maine, Russia, France, Belgium, Croatia, and Turkey.
Raul is also the author of an instructional book for advanced drummers, entitled Melodic Drumming, available for purchase online. In every project and venture, Raul Valdes gives his own distinctive flavor and charisma, and he continues to impress and mesmerize fans and musicians alike.
YVETTE NORWOOD-TIGER, vocalist, songwriter, vocal coach, and recording artist, is a Detroit, Michigan native who hails from a family of musicians, including a father who played guitar and a mother who played drums. Her current CD, Why Not... Love, Peace, Joy, Jazz features music from great composers such as Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, and the Gershwins. Yvette performs with vocally clean and pure interpretations of the great American Songbook, while emphasizing intonation and storytelling. Her vocal styling and texture is often compared to that of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Sarah Vaughan. In addition to traditional jazz, her repertoire includes traditional gospel, Latin jazz, classic songs from popular music, and arias of the great composers such as Puccini. She also performs songs in other languages which includes French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. Her mission in music is to uplift, inspire, and heal the heart, mind and soul of the listener. Yvette, who performs internationally, is a true vocal natural in any setting from large music festivals to intimate jazz clubs. She captivates the audience whether she’s singing with an ensemble featuring piano, bass, drums, trumpet, and saxophone; with a piano or guitar accompanist; or with a full orchestra. Her CD, titled Why Not...Love, Peace, Joy, Jazz is a great compilation of popular jazz standards that lends the mind back to the days of the original recordings. Pianist and keyboardist RICK MOORE is from N.J. and played the organ, clarinet and drums as a child. While in his teens, Rick became a church organist and played for a variety of social functions. After high school, Rick began teaching and playing the piano professionally. He worked with Fred Amend, Don Messina, Bill Chattin, Judy Niemack, Vic Juris, Vinnie Burke and many other Jazz notables. During the late 70s, while performing in clubs and concerts throughout tri-state, Rick studied Jazz piano with Sal Mosca in Mt. Vernon N.Y. and classical piano with Keith McDonald. In 1986, Rick moved to West Palm Beach, FL and resumed performing. He played extended piano engagements at the International Polo Club, Bear Lakes & the Jupiter Island Club. Rick also performed at Mar-a- Lago, the Everglades Club, the Lyric Theater, and hundreds of other venues throughout South Florida. Rick has performed for Sarah Ferguson-Duchess of York, Donald Trump, Tommy Lee Jones, and many other celebrities. In 2012, Rick and his wife, Cherie, founded the Jupiter Jazz Society. He currently leads the "Bossa Jazz" ensemble for the Sunday Jazz jams at Double Roads Tavern in Jupiter, FL, as well as other clubs, concerts, corporate functions and private events. The band often features Jazz notables including: Yvette Norwood-Tiger, Keith Jones, Nicholas Biello, Jérôme Degey, Greg Diaz and many others.
