Steinway Artist, pianist and composer Catherine Marie Charlton will perform works from her new CD “Maiden’s Voyage” with her quartet featuring Steve Meashey, upright bass, and 40 year jazz veterans J. Jody Janetta, drums/percussion, and Bob Meashey, trumpet/flugelhorn.  Admission is $10. Tickets are available at the door and online; those purchased in advance include a free copy of the Maiden’s Voyage CD. This performance is supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Charlton’s piano improvisations blend Romantic lyricism and Impressionist colors with her love of New Age artists such as George Winston and Enya.  Recently she has incorporated influences of avant-garde jazz artists such as Cecil Taylor and Ornette Coleman to her music, while maintaining the expressive lyricism of her Classical and New Age roots. Maiden's Voyage is ten years in the making, including spontaneous compositions, songs by Piazzolla, Ginastera, and Satie, and covers of Autumn Leaves and Nature Boy.  Produced by Catherine Marie Charlton, engineered by Eric Troyer and mastered by Grammy winning Philadelphia engineer Phil Nicolo, the record includes performances by drummer/percussionist J. Jody Janetta, jazz bassist Steve Meashey, ambient jazz flugelhorn artist Jeff Oster, Philadelphia free jazz legend Elliott Levin on tenor sax and flute, and classical bassist Barry Green.

Catherine Marie Charlton is a three-time Individual Artist Fellow of the Delaware Division of the Arts, winner of the Independent Music Awards (Instrumental EP) and was awarded “Best Instrumental Album - Piano” in the 8th Annual Zone Music Reporter Awards, as voted by broadcasters worldwide.
