RZQ is a 4 piece group from the Wilmington area. The inspiration for the group started as a tribute to some of the greatest trumpet players to ever record jazz. Songs featuring the musical talents of Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Chet Baker, Woody Shaw, Kenny Dorham, Rick Braun, Chris Botti and of course Clifford Brown are all represented. Stretching outside traditional jazz circles, RZQ incorporates elements of Blues, Funk, RnB and Pop into its shows as well as their own compositions. The group is busy writing and recording for their upcoming debut CD to be released later this year. RZQ takes the listener on a journey through straight ahead Jazz, Blues, Funk, RnB and Pop…sometimes with a distinct electronic flugelhorn solo; effects reminiscent of a vintage Randy Brecker. The band strives for something hip and fresh for their audience.
