The performance will showcase standards from the American Songbook, lesser known jazz works from the 50’s to the present, a hint of spirituals and blues, and an array of original compositions from each of Monroe’s and Lawton's collections. These mostly recently-composed originals have created a likely next step for the duo—the blending of traditions of jazz, blues, contemporary classical, traditional classical, and traditional African music.
