Appearing at the Kennett Flash on March 7th will be Kombu Combo! Take a fiery, intense drummer, mix with an uncompromising saxophonist, guitarist, bassist and vibes player, infuse with world music from Brazil, Latin America, Afro-Cuba and India, and then allow free-flowing original composition and that’s the core essence of Kombu Combo. Band leader John DiGiovanni plays pop, rock, blues, bebop and classical percussion, but throughout his career, jazz has been his home. Kombu Combo takes influences from jazz greats like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Victor Feldman and mixes them with music from icons like Frank Zappa, Robert Palmer, and classical composers like Erik Satie – the result is an eclectic stew of African rhythms and bright samba styles that conjure up Brazilian street parties....
