The Soular Jazz Festival will be celebrating its 5th annual festival in Northborough on June 15. This unique event combines the family fun of a music festival with the newest clean and green technologies for you and your family to discover.

Founders Ed Harlow, a well known saxophonist, composer and teacher, and Kathleen Howland Harlow, a professor at Berklee College of Music and an Algonquin school board member, run the festival. The Soular Jazz Festival will be celebrating its 5th annual festival in Northborough on June 15. This unique event combines the family fun of a music festival with the newest clean and green technologies for you and your family to discover.

Founders Ed Harlow, a well known saxophonist, composer and teacher, and Kathleen Howland Harlow, a professor at Berklee College of Music and an Algonquin school board member, run the festival. They feel that the microphone is a place for inspiring as well as entertaining. In that spirit, they have matched renewable energy technology and activities with six live bands for this entertaining and informative event.

Since its inception, the festival has been held on the lawn at First Parish Unitarian Universalist at 40 Church St. in Northborough. This year's festivities run from 11 AM to 6 PM. First Parish was integral to the founding of Northborough in 1746 and is still making history today. Attendees should plan on bringing a chair or a blanket for a day of fun, music and technology at this historic site.

The Soular Jazz Festival features local jazz artists from the faculty of the Berklee College of Music and exceptional local high school jazz bands playing on a solar powered stage.

Scheduled for this year's event:

11 am: Newton South High School Combo - 2019 Massachusetts Association of Jazz Educators Gold Medal winners.
Noon: Wolverine Jazz Band - one of New England's favorite bands playing red hot New Orleans jazz.
1:15 pm: Algonquin High School Jazz Ensemble One - 2019 Massachusetts Association of Jazz Educators Gold Medal winners.
2:15 pm: The Gringo Kings- Ed Harlow's eight-piece Latin Jazz band that rocks the house every year.
3:30 pm: Newton South Jazz Ensemble - 2019 second place winners the Charles Mingus Festival.
4:30 pm: George Russell, Jr. and Lydia Harrell - George is a favorite professor amongst his peers at the Berklee College. Lydia Harrell is one of Boston's most treasured vocalists.
