The David French Music Company was founded in 1987 by David French, who, based on his 30 years of experience as a musician, music teacher, and instrumental service representative, saw the need for a company that could provide affordable, high quality instruments and personalized service for students and teachers in public and private school music programs.
During his weekly school visits David noticed that some students were becoming discouraged. Perhaps they were using older, “hand-me-down” instruments or instruments that were simply not working properly. It was obvious to David then, that supplying an affordable, high quality instrument would greatly enhance a student’s ability to grow and prosper in their musical education. This viewpoint is also borne out by current research that shows that inexpensive instruments of lesser quality or that do not function properly can actually inhibit students from effectively participating in their school programs. David French Music, now owned by David’s son Eric and his wife Michelle, continues to provide reliable, affordable, brand-name instruments and accessories, personalized service, and the expertise to help music students of all abilities reach their musical potential.
