40th anniversary of the Prague Big Band & Bob Mintzer /USA/ at Municipal Library Prague

The star-studded concert as the part of the 37th International Jazz Festival Praha will celebrate 40th anniversary of the Prague Big Band Milan Svoboda and as a special guest presents the legendary American saxophonist and composer Bob Mintzer. Prague Big Band was the first Czechoslovak musical ensemble, which became famous not only in Europe but also abroad. Significant personality of Czech jazz scene, from Jiří Stivín Emil Viklicky over Štěpán Markovic, František Kopa, after Miroslav Hloucal, Petra Kalfus and other stars of the new generation, went through the orchestra for respectable period of time. Milan Svoboda, founder and conductor of the orchestra, perfect jazz pianist and pedagogue, prominent composer of jazz, musicals (L'écume des jours), classical (ballet Mowgli for the National Theatre) and film (Coffee Meditation in the movie The Imitation Game) music. For Prague Big Band wrote countless great songs, of which the annual concert will present the best, from the initial phase through to brand new Good News from Beyond.
Bob Mintzer, winner of two Grammys and other major awards, the famous American saxophonist and arranger, founder of the legendary Yellowjackets, a great educator and especially significant composer will present at the concert on the fortieth anniversary some of his compositions, including solo songs from his latest album Get Up originally recorded for James Brown.
This unique event is organized by art agency Pragokoncert Bohemia, as, with the support of the City of Prague and the district Prague 1. The concert will take place on Oct. 18, 2015 at 7.30pm in the Great Hall of the Prague Municipal Library, Mariánské nám. 1, Prague 1. Tickets can be purchased online on Ticketportal and GoOut, or in person, at box office of Jazz Club Reduta, Národní 116/20, Prague 1.
