Austin – The Austin Jazz Alliance will host a kick-off party to launch its support of Central Texas Jazz at the iconic Victory Grill on Sunday, September 16, from 2 to 6pm. All ages are welcome and admission is free.

Austin – The Austin Jazz Alliance will host a kick-off party to launch its support of Central Texas Jazz at the iconic Victory Grill on Sunday, September 16, from 2 to 6pm. All ages are welcome and admission is free.

The Austin Jazz Alliance started as a grass-roots organization of jazz musicians and fans that wanted to support the jazz genre in Austin and central Texas. Under the umbrella of the Austin Creative Alliance, AJA has grown into an organization that brings together jazz fans, jazz music venues, jazz related businesses, and jazz musicians in an effort to help and support and promote jazz.

“In a city noted for its vibrant, live music, we are a grass-roots collection of music enthusiasts who want to bolster the Central Texas jazz music scene,” said Fito Kahn, who formed the non-profit organization and has recruited folks to help grow the alliance. The Austin Jazz Alliance website contains the most comprehensive and current listings of all jazz events happening in and around Austin. It also has a directory of jazz musicians and CD reviews of local jazz artists.

Several local jazz bands and musicians will perform during the Sept. 16 show that includes catered food and drink specials. In addition, the sale of CD’s and band merchandise will be available with proceeds going to benefit the musicians and the organization. Donations will be accepted at the door to help grow the Austin Jazz Alliance.

Please make plans to attend. We need volunteers to help the day of the event so if you are interested, send me any email. If you are a musician or vocalist and would like to participate and maybe sit in and play or sing a few songs, email me so i can add you to our lineup. Slots are going fast.

If you have CD's that you would like to sell, please bring them to the event. We will have a manned booth and will sell your merchandise for you with you keeping all the proceeds less a $1.00 donation per CD.
