Flutist Peter H. Bloom, praised for “exquisite melody” (JazzImprov) and “hip, jazzy flute work” (Allaboutjazz.com), has concertized in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand and is featured on 47 CDs. He has shared the stage with Sheila Jordan, Ricky Ford, Geri Allen, Charles Neville, Jaki Byard and other jazz legends, and is a veteran of the internationally renowned Aardvark Jazz Orchestra (49th season). Bloom's latest CD, Exuberant Ellingtonia with pianist John Funkhouser, has been called "one of those albums we know are unique jewels" (Jazz, ese ruido). Troy Dostert, reviewing the album for AllAboutJazz, wrote: "Although the enormous quantity of Duke Ellington tributes recorded over the years is probably far too large to count, those involving flute and piano duos are a much rarer find. So it is a welcome occurrence that flautist Peter H Bloom and pianist John Funkhouser, two prominent veterans of the Boston jazz scene, have recorded just that: a thoughtfully curated, well-played collection of time-tested gems from the Ellington songbook which is perfect in highlighting the musicality and emotional potency of the master's corpus. "
Mark Leighton is acclaimed as a jazz and classical guitarist, performs widely, and serves on the faculties of Colby College and St. George’s School. He served as Artistic Director of First Night Quincy for 20 years. Mark studied with noted guitarists Sharon Isbin, David Leisner and Robert Sullivan.
