Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium (CBJC) will celebrate its 11th anniversary with a jazz concert featuring the Steven Kroon Sextet. The bill also includes a youth jazz ensemble performance by Q City Soundz and a special award presentation to Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts' (MoCADA) founder and executive director Laurie Cumbo. Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium's chairman Jitu K. Weusi will present Ms. Cumbo with its Founders Day Award during its anniversary celebration.

Multi-percussionist Steven Kroon's sound, Latin; R&B; Jazz, is as diverse as the borough, Brooklyn, which honed his talents. Steven was a presence during the Brooklyn club scene of the 70's and performed with some of the borough's most sought after musicians such Stanley Banks, Carlos Garnett and jazz great James Spaulding. Kroon also performed with Luther Vandross and Ron Carter among others. Kroon's sextet consists of: Bryan Carrott, vibes; Craig Rivers, sax/flute; Igor Atalita, piano; Reuben Rodriguez, bass; Diego Lopez, drums and Steve on congas. ...
