David Negrete Quartet at Body & Soul

Saxophonist David Negrete bridges the generational and international gap with his quartet. Since middle school he has been heavily influenced by the tradition of Sax masters John Coltrane, Joe Henderson, Charlie Parker, and Lou Donaldson. Proficient at both alto and tenor Saxophone David commands a strong drive to showcase the music of Jazz in both it’s tradition and modern concepts. Legendary bassist Hideaki Kanazawa who, for 40 years has been the bass player of choice for some of the biggest names in Jazz in Japan. Drummer Masahiko Osaka has been a guiding force for jazz in Japan since the 90’s, recording and performing with Roy Hargrove and Antonio Hart. He is also a role model that generations have been following with his regular jam sessions and instructional YouTube Channel. Guitarist Daisuke Abe is a perfect fit after spending 20 years deep inside the core of the New York City jazz scene. Mastering both swing and groove as his resume along wit his unwavering tone his guitar is an essential part in featuring the continuum of jazz. This live event will feature music from the 1960’s Blue Note Records, as well as the American songbook with the freshness and free spirits of these four seemingly distant, yet very connected masters of jazz....
