Dick Hyman-Shelly Berg Meeting of Minds at Players Theatre

Two of the best jazz pianists, Dick Hyman and Shelly Berg, will perform together August 16, 2013 at the Players Theatre at 7:30 pm. The concert is sponsored by The Jazz Club of Sarasota and The Jazz Cruise.

Hyman, member of the Jazz Hall of Fame and Emmy winner, and Berg, who Dave Brubeck called "a great jazz pianist", have recorded together but have never appeared together in Sarasota.

In addition to over 100 recordings, Hyman has been a composer, arranger and performer for numerous television shows and movies, including a dozen of the Woody Allen movies.

Grammy nominated this year, Berg recorded or arranged with Nancy Wilson, Diane Warwick, Woody Herman, James Moody, Auturo Sandival and Clark Terry. He is the Dean of the University of Miami School of Music....

Advance tickets for the first five rows are $20 and $15 for all others. Admission the day of the concert is $25.

There will be an after concert party for Hyman and Berg with proceeds going to the Scholarship Fund of the Jazz Club of Sarasota; details to come later.
