Live small Jazz ensembles with some of Florida's most talented young musicians rising in the music gather twice a year for an intimate evening of music the way that Jazz was meant to be performed: In a small, club-like setting. The Brandt Black Box theater on the campus of A.W. Dreyfoos is transformed into a club setting for a wonderful evening in the discovery of great music, and the breakthroughs of young talent! DSOA Jazz has featured some of the most talented young Jazz musicians in the country under the direction of Pedro Hernandez-Ibarra and Evan Rogovin, with record numbers of Florida All-State Jazz students over the last three years, and members of the Jazz Band of America, and the Student GRAMMY® band, and invites to some of the most elite summer workshops for young players in the world at Juilliard and Aspen.
