Jazz in Arizona, Inc. (Jazz in AZ) (JIA) is a non-profit community arts organization. Our mission is to celebrate the rich tradition and ongoing innovation of jazz by presenting quality live performances, providing unique educational programs, and building an inclusive jazz community in the greater Phoenix area and beyond.
Since its inception in 1977, Jazz in AZ has been preeminently engaged in the presentation and promotion of live jazz, providing educational programs and scholarships, and serving as the primary source for all things jazz across Arizona. In April of 2012, Jazz in AZ opened The Nash, its own educational and performance center in the Roosevelt Row Arts District of Phoenix, named for native son and world-renowned drummer Lewis Nash. This center is enriching our community with a growing number of jazz concerts, weekly jam sessions and education programs while bringing together an entire community of jazz musicians, educators and listeners.

In addition to being a premier education and performance venue, The Nash is also a visual art space, featuring curated art exhibitions on a rotating basis. The Nash is designed to be a “Third Space”, a gathering place, a rich cultural resource for the community.
In 2014, The Nash received international recognition in being named as one of the “Great Jazz Venues in the World” by the esteemed Downbeat Magazine.
